2021 is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Sir James McGrigor, the Father of the British Army Medical Services. The Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society and the University of Aberdeen held a commemorative “virtual seminar" on the actual anniversary, Friday 9 April for university alumni, MedChi members, and guests. Under Covid-19 restrictions, a wreath was laid at the McGrigor obelisk in Duthie Park in advance for inclusion in the on-line seminar. The seminar can be viewed here.

The University of Aberdeen has published a biography of McGrigor, which includes information on an excellent video and book, both producd by MedChi member, Mr Tom Scotland.
