Dr Chris Provan has been a GP partner at the Elmbank Medical Practice in Aberdeen for over 25 years. His practice covers a city centre community and he works with patients who often have multiple medical issues. He is the substance misuse lead within the practice and has much experience ofthe impact of health inequalities. He has previously been a GP trainer, FY2 tutor and undergraduate medical student teacher. Previously Clinical Lead for Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership in Aberdeen. Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Scotland 2023 until 2026.
His Royal College of General Practitioners Chair’s priority focus highlighted how we need to promote and support the value of a career in general practice. Support for trainees, trainers and international medical graduates. Also support for mid and late career GPs and we have a specific programme we are working on with Scottish Government. He focuses on issues around recruitment, retention and investment in primary care.
