Crisis, What Crisis? The 21st Century Medical Workforce

Andrew Goddard qualified in Cambridge and trained in East Anglia and the East Midlands before becoming a consultant in 2002. He was director of the RCP’s Medical Workforce Unit for five years until being appointed RCP registrar in 2014, overseeing professional and clinical affairs in the UK and internationally. In 2018 he was elected the 121st RCP president, the youngest for 400 years and first from the East Midlands.
During the COVID-19 pandemic he was instrumental in influencing the national response and representing the profession. As PRCP he championed the areas of health inequalities, workforce, wellbeing and research. He is currently Chair of the MHRA expert advisory group on AI and software and oversees the governance of the MHRA AI Airlock. He was knighted in the Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours list for services to medicine and social care.
