“Paediatric ECMO – challenging dogma whilst chasing the dream”

Dr Mark Davidson, Consultant at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.
Mark Davidson trained as a paediatric intensivist with specialist interests in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), cardiac intensive care, flexible bronchoscopy and retrieval medicine. He has been a consultant at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow for the past 15 years, where he is Clinical Director of the Scottish Paediatric Cardiac Service and the Director of the ECMO Service. He is chair of the Paediatric Critical Care Society ECMO Group and a member of the certification workgroup of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Education Taskforce. He is widely published on areas of intensive care, including co-authoring several book chapters.
In his spare time, he is addicted to cycling, canni-cross and his family – but not necessarily in that order.
