Duff BruceDuff Bruce is a graduate of Robert Gordon’s College and the University of Aberdeen, and has 26 years’ experience in General Surgery, gained in Northern Scotland, Australia and the USA.

In 2001, he completed a Fellowship in oesophageal physiology at the Kech Medical School of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Since 2002, he has worked in Aberdeen as a consultant general surgeon with special interests in gastro-oesophageal cancer, gastro-oesophageal reflux, gastroparesis, laparoscopic surgery and metabolic and weight loss surgery.

Prof. Bruce is one of the leading exponents of Bariatric surgery in Scotland and is on the council of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgical Society (BOMSS). He is the current chairman of the Scottish charity; The Severe and Complex Obesity Treatment Service (SCOTS) which advises on the provision and development of services to manage this patient group and a trustee of the Experts in Severe and Complex Obesity (ESCO) group which performs a similar role in England.

He is a member of SIGN consultation group on the treatment of obesity and of the Scottish National Planning Forum sub-group on obesity treatment.
