Professor George G. Youngson CBE is Emeritus Professor of Paediatric Surgery at the University of Aberdeen and is a surgeon, educator, and advocate for children’s healthcare. He graduated from Aberdeen University Medical School in 1973 and completed specialist surgical training in Scotland and Canada before being appointed Consultant General Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. He was awarded a personal chair in Paediatric Surgery in 1999 and became Emeritus Professor in 2010. His contributions involve paediatric surgery, surgical education, patient safety, and human factors research; he was previously Vice -president of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2009 for services to Medicine in Scotland. He continues to support healthcare and education through leadership roles with charitable organisations including The Archie Foundation and Kids Operating Room (KidsOR).
