Surgeon

David Fiddes gained his MRCS diploma in 1832.  After a period as ship’s surgeon he settled in Aberdeen where he obtained his MD degree in 1843.  He was consultant at Aberdeen Royal infirmary and lecturer in clinical surgery at the University of Aberdeen. In addition, he was parochial medical officer for Aberdeen and physician to Robert Gordon’s Hospital (now Robert Gordon school and university). He was president of Aberdeen Medico Chirurgical Society in 1860-61.
